In April 2017, Mrs Ursula Pagels was among those who received the Sogetsu 90th Anniversary Commemorative Sogetsu Overseas Honor Award at a ceremony in Chiba Prefecture. This was in recognition of her excellent work for Sogetsu ikebana.
In 2018, Mrs Ursula Pagels received the Foreign Minister’s Commendation, to acknowledge her contribution to the promotion of friendship between Japan and Australia through her dedication to ikebana. An article about it was published here.
In 2026 this year, Mrs Ursula Pagels has been awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Silver Rays to acknowledge her contributions to promoting ikebana here in Western Australia. The article can be accessed here.
Demonstrations and Exhibitions
Our branch members include experienced and qualified teachers of Sogetsu ikebana who have demonstrated the art of Japanese flower arrangement (ikebana) at various areas including high schools, colleges, community organisations, events and many more.
